How to Create Parallel Routes?

Step-by-Step Guide

What is a Parallel Route?

Is a Route in which multiple manufacturing operations can or need to be performed simultaneously, to lower lead times.

For example, here’s the route we will create:

Clarifications

  • When creating Parallel Routes in JIKKO, you should start and end the route itself on serial operations.
  • Parallelism with series (See Route002) included is only available when coming from the ERP.*

*We have currently an action plan to include this functionality in the Route Management.

The temporary solution we suggest is to apply a partial end on the previous operation to parallel series (Mixing in this case)

Step-by-Step: Parallel Routes Creation

Now, time to learn how to create and personalize your parallel routes:

1. Go to BOM & Routes Section

From the JIKKO Management home click on modules from the left lateral bar, then select the order management module and BOM & Routes Section.

2. Create a Route

Click on the Create Route Button and the following form will show up:

3. Select Route Sequence Type

Fill up the Route Information like code, name and description. Now, Make sure you check Parallel on the sequence type for your route.

4. Add Operations

Now, it is time to add all the operations for the route we are creating. And doing so, we will select the sequence type for each one.

Preparing is the first operation (serial-type), which is represented by the red color in JIKKO.

Remember: You can't start (nor end) a route with a parallel operation

5. Add Parallel Operations

Fist make sure you check the parallel option, if so, when adding the operation on the workflow column you will see it represented by a green color and a counter (PS1 for example) that will indicate parallel sequence number.

6. Finish Adding the Operations

Here we will add more operations, cooking as serial type, serving and tasting as Parallel operations (PS2). You can add as many parallel operations as you need.

7. Save your Route and Check the Workflow

Save your Route by clicking on the button shown bellow. Once confirmed, you can see your route on the list presented.
