Purpose of the Dashboard
The first step to build any dashboard, is to define the need for it and its purpose. This will create a clear scope in order to know which datasets are needed, which joins must be created and which visuals are needed.
Datasets
To effectively visualize the costs, it is important to have access to certain key pieces of information. Firstly, detailed information about every order is required, including the order number, quantity target, the reference of the article being produced and standard costs. Similarly, we need this information for the different batches an order has: batch number, the number of units in each batch, and its costs translated into this level. Traceability of both orders and batches is crucial, with details of the current work center, the time spent at each operation, and the expected completion time being essential. Finally, information about the operations being performed on each batch, such as the operation number and description, must be available. Having all of this information at hand is vital to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the production process.
Let's proceed to Jikko Analytics to begin building our join.
Visuals
Now, we can pass to the next step... We can begin to conceptualize our analysis.
Now, we can start building our visuals. Let’s enter into our analysis, and let’s start.
Analysis
Now, that we already reviewed how to build joins, how to create the analysis, and how to make some visuals, let’s use the dashboard in its complete version. In this video I'll guide you through the different components of the Cost Management dashboard, and explain how to use it effectively to gain insights and improve cost management.
