Poka Yokes

Yoke is a Japanese term that means mistake-proofing. It refers to any tool or mechanism that keeps a person from completing a task in an incorrect way.

Prevent a process from moving to the next step until the proper conditions have been achieved to eliminate mistakes in the process as early as possible. 

There are some specific situations for when to use it:

• Helps improving the overall quality control.
  
• Prevents defective products from making it to the end of the process.
  
• Reduces time spent on training and promotes a culture of continuous improvement
